Integrating Twilio with SendX for SMS Workflows

In this guide, we will walk you through the process of integrating your Twilio account with SendX to send SMSs through workflows. If you have any questions, please refer to our documentation on integrating Twilio.

Step 1: Add Twilio Integration

  1. Select the type as Twilio.
  2. Obtain your Account SID and Auth Token from your Twilio console dashboard.
  3. Go to the Twilio console, scroll down, and copy your Account SID.
  4. Paste the Account SID into the designated field in SendX.
  5. Similarly, copy your Auth Token and paste it into the respective field.
  6. Click Save to successfully add the integration.

Step 2: Sending SMSs via SendX Workflows

  1. Navigate to the Workflow section in SendX.
  2. Create a new workflow.
  3. Add a trigger to determine when a contact should enter the workflow. For example, when a contact is subscribed to a list called Custom Sender.
  4. Name the workflow, e.g., Intro to Customers.
  5. Add an Action Step:
    • Select Twilio as your SMS provider.
    • Choose the action Send SMS.
    • Select one of the sender phone numbers listed on your Twilio account.
    • Select a contact's custom field of the type phone number for the recipient's phone number. Here, choose Recipient Phone.
    • Add the SMS text message.
  6. Save the action step, activate the workflow, and publish it.

Step 3: Testing the Workflow

  1. Add a contact to the Custom Sender list.
  2. The contact will be enrolled into the workflow, and an SMS will be sent to the phone number listed in the Recipient Phone custom field.
  3. Check the timeline to verify if the SMS was successfully sent. If there is an error, such as an incorrect phone number, the error reason will be listed by Twilio.
