Welcome to SendX: Creating a Location-Based Segment

In this tutorial, we'll guide you through creating a location-based segment to target contacts in your preferred location. Additionally, we'll explore how our software tracks user locations, providing deeper insights for your campaigns.

Why Use Location-Based Segments?

Location-based segments are a powerful tool in marketing. They allow you to tailor campaigns to specific regions, ensuring your messaging aligns with your audience's context, whether it's language, time zones, or local events.

Step-by-Step Guide to Setting Up a Location-Based Segment

  1. Access the Audience Tab: Start by clicking on the Audience tab and selecting segments.
  2. Create a New Segment: Click on the Create Segment button in the top right corner.
  3. Name Your Segment: Give your segment a name, for example, "US-based customers."
  4. Create a New Group: As with any segment, start by creating a new group.
  5. Add a Condition: Click on Add Condition to define the criteria.
  6. Select an Entity: Click on the Choose an Entity drop-down menu in the form and select Contact as the Entity.
  7. Choose Location: Select Location from the Choose an Action drop-down menu.
  8. Define the Location: Scroll down the drop-down list and select United States from the Location options in the form.
  9. Save the Condition: Click the Save button to confirm the location condition for the segment.
  10. Update Contacts: Click on Update Contacts to see the list of contacts in the United States.
  11. Finalize the Segment: Click the Create Segment button in the top right corner to finalize and create the new segment with the specified conditions.

Voila! You now have a segment with a name and a location.

Exploring a Segment

Let's take a look at another segment consisting only of US-based customers. Click on one of the contacts in the segment to view their details. Here, you can see more information about the contact present.

Tracking User Locations

Our software tracks user locations using their last tracked IP address. This IP can be captured when a contact opens an email, submits a pop-up form, or can even be added manually during a file import.
