Managing DNS Records and Configuring Domain Settings Using AWS Route 53

This guide provides a step-by-step process for managing DNS records and configuring domain settings using AWS Route 53.

Step 1: Enter Domain Name

  • Enter the domain name in the Input field under Sending Domain Authentication.

  • Click the Add Sending Domain button to proceed.

Step 2: Access AWS Route 53

  • In the AWS Route 53 dashboard, use the search bar to find services.

  • Select Route 53 from the search results to access its features.

Step 3: Manage Hosted Zones

  • Click on the hosted zones under DNS Management in the Route 53 dashboard.

  • In the Hosted Zones section, use the search bar to filter records by property or value.

  • Select the hosted zone named sx25.email from the filtered results.

Step 4: Create DNS Records

  • In the Records section, click on Create Record to add a new DNS record.

  • Copy the DKIM record value from the Domain Setup page.

  • Enter subdomain in the Record Name field in the form.

  • Select TXT from the Record Type drop-down menu.

  • Paste the copied DKIM value into the Value field of the TXT record.

Step 5: Add Additional Records

  • Click Add Another Record to create a new record.

  • Enter subdomain in the Record Name field for the new record.

  • Change the Record Type to name 4-routing traffic to another domain name.

  • Copy the value sp.sendpost.info for the name record.

  • Enter www.sendpost.info for the domain name.

  • Enter .example.com as the value for the name record.

Step 6: Review and Finalize DNS Records

  • Review the Domain Records list in the Domain Setup page.

  • Click the Copy icon next to the DMARC record value.

  • Enter the subdomain name in the Record Name field in the AWS Route 53 interface.

  • Paste the copied DMARC record value into the Value field.

  • Ensure the IP address is correctly entered in the Value field for the DNS record.

  • Choose TXTs to verify email senders and for application-specific values from the drop-down.

  • Click the Create Records button to save the new record.

Step 7: Check Propagation Status

  • A notification appears indicating records were successfully created and propagated.

  • Click the View Status button to check the propagation status.

  • In the AWS console, check the status of the change request, which is currently pending.

  • Hover over the pending status in the AWS console to view more details.

Step 8: Finalize Domain Settings

  • In the Domain Settings, click the Refresh icon next to the DMARC record.

  • Select Recheck Status from the drop-down menu in the Domain Settings.

  • Navigate to the DNS Records tab and review the DKM, Return Path, Track, and MARC settings.

Step 9: Add a Sender

  • Click on the Sender tab in the navigation bar.

  • Click the Plus Add Sender button.

  • Enter the sender's name in the Name field of the modal.

  • Enter the sender's email in the Email field.

  • Click the Create Sender button to finalize.
